Rev. Paul McLeod
Spiritual Care Coordinator

Rev. Paul hold a Masters Degree in Religious Studies from the Franciscan School of Theology in Berkeley California. During this same period, he was certified after completing a one year on-site Program at the Veterans Hospital in Martinez, California. This 'Clinical Pastoral Care Program' was unique in that the hospital population was entirely Vietnam Veterans.

Prior to the above, Rev. Paul completed a five-year (extended) undergraduate college program at DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois. His degree in Sociology completed, he took another year to take advanced courses in Psychology and Gerontology, returning to Hawaii to be ordained a Catholic Priest in 1984.

Rev. Paul has been in the islands since June of 1958 . . . returning to the mainland only for educational purposes. Prior to his calling to religious life, he dabbled in real estate and ventured into the printing business living in Kaneohe (Oahu). As Rev. Paul
processed his future, he joined his religious community in the mid-1970's and schooled until ordination in 1984 -- at the age of 44.

His assignments were on Maui (Lahaina), Oahu (Waialua, Waikiki, Kaimuki) and for the past ten years, at Lihue, Kauai. During this period of almost 25 years he has been involved with counseling prison guards on Oahu, completing a one year cycle at Queens Medical Center (trauma team). He has worked extensively with the families and loved ones of those who have died or are experiencing the immediacy of a family member or loved one who is in the process of dying.

His personal time is spent with books, the computer frenzy, and close friends - who are his family. He had to give up surfing and snow-skiing some time ago . . . getting older brings to you different and often, better gifts to fill in the gaps, Rev. Paul contends!
